Bureaucracy

[Diary excerpt] Last week the accrediting body for teachers in my area advised they wanted my undergraduate transcripts.  Up until then I thought my application for permission to teach had been going well.  Their website warned all users in advance of problems they were experiencing with an IT migration.  There was a temporary wall of silence over the summer when calls were not returned and questions not answered.  But after five months I still didn’t have serious misgivings.  At least not until the request for undergraduate transcripts.  “Surely, they want details of my master’s degree (Master of Teaching), don’t they?”

I completed my master’s degree less than six months previously. I completed my bachelor’s degree thirty years ago.  Where would those transcripts be?
